Contest Creation of a design for the Celebrations in Canada of the Bicentennial of the Chilean Independence

The Embassy of Chile in Canada invites all the Chilean-Canadian artists to create an illustration concept to market the celebrations of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Chile which will be held in Canada during 2010.

The project to allow Chileans abroad to vote progresses

- The Commission of Constitution of the Senate approved the idea to legislate on this matter.

In a unanimous way, the Commission of Constitution of the Senate approved, last Tuesday, the idea to legislate on the project that regulates the automatic inscription, the voluntary suffrage, and the vote of the Chileans abroad. With this, the bill is in condition to be discussed in the High Chamber.

National Contest of Composition “The Cuecas of the Bicentennial” have begun

- The winning song will receive 1 million pesos and will be interpreted in the Huaso Festival in Olmué in 2010.

During the presentation of the cuecas group “La Gallera”, the Contest of Composition “Cuecas of the Bicentennial” started. The contest invites composers, musicians, and Chilean interpreters residing abroad.

Chilean film “Chile Can Do It" will be exhibited in the Latin-American Cinema Festival in Ottawa

- The activity will be held on March 30th at 7 p.m. at the Library and Archives Canada.

Like every year, the Canadian Film Institute organized the 13th Latin American Film Festival in the city of Ottawa. This year the Chilean film selected to be shown was "Chile Can Do It" (2008), a comedy from director Ricardo Larraín.
